Exporting food and drink to China, answered.

Registration & compliance
What is GACC registration and do I need it?
GACC registration is the approval China's General Administration of Customs requires for overseas food producers before their products can be imported. Under GACC Decree 248, most overseas food manufacturers must be registered, submitted through the online CIFER system. If you're exporting food or beverage products to China, you almost certainly need it. Read the full guide →
How do I register my food product to export to China?
Prepare the manufacturer registration materials, align the identities of manufacturer, exporter, brand owner and shipper, submit through the CIFER system (directly or via the competent authority depending on product category), and pass a label and document review before shipment. We prepare the filing and coordinate the submission for you.
What documents are needed to export food and beverages to China?
Requirements vary by product, but typically include company and manufacturer identity, product specifications, ingredient and packaging details, label artwork, and the supporting customs and import documents. We give you a product-specific checklist so nothing is missing.
Labeling & customs
Do I need a label review before shipping to China?
Yes — strongly recommended. Label issues are one of the most common causes of delays and rejections at Chinese customs. A pre-shipment review of labels, ingredients and claims against Chinese requirements prevents most of these problems.
What happens if my labels or documents are wrong?
Incorrect labels or inconsistent documentation are among the most common reasons shipments are held or sent back. Catching them before shipment — rather than at the border — is far cheaper and faster.
Timelines & cost
How long does China market entry preparation take?
It depends on your product category and import route. Registration and label compliance are usually the critical path. We map a realistic timeline for your specific product in a free assessment.
How much does it cost to enter the Chinese market?
Cost depends on your product, how many SKUs you're bringing, and how much of the work you need us to handle. We scope this with you after a free assessment, so you get a clear picture before committing.
Market entry & distributors
Can you help with market research and distributor setup in China?
Yes. Beyond compliance we help with market sizing and competitor research, trademark protection, distributor identification, and preparing partner communication and import timelines.
Should I protect my trademark in China?
Yes — China operates on a first-to-file basis, so registering your trademark early matters. We coordinate trademark search and brand-protection filing as part of market entry.
Working with East by North
Do you work with Finnish and European companies exporting to China?

Do you work with small producers?
Yes, producers of all sizes. The free assessment is the same regardless of size, and if China isn't the right move for you yet, we'll say so.
What does the free assessment include?
